Congratulations to Cavan, an Acme Valley Ice Cream employee.  In 2023, Holly Ridge Center contracted with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) to perform job placement activities for Cavan and assist him in obtaining meaningful employment of his choice.

Hired by Acme Valley Ice Cream in Poulsbo as a production assistant, Cavan’s potential was recognized. He has since enrolled in ice cream manufacturing classes and gone on to become a team lead! Here’s to your continued success, Cavan, and thank you, Acme Valley Ice Cream, an inclusive employer in Kitsap County.

“Cavan came to us a little quiet, a little shy, but seemed quite interested in the position. As the weeks and initial months passed, his work was steady and reliable, and he responded to corrections with patience and immediacy, said Rob Barrett, Assistant Plant Manager. “Then something seemed to click as his patience and dedication paid off and he moved into a team lead position. Cavan also began to anticipate the needs of production days ahead and was more readily able to adapt to the unexpected changes in production, on the fly. He continues to be hard working, dedicated, reliable, ever-growing and valuable team member of our small company and we look forward to seeing him grow along with us!”

In 2025, ACME Valley changed its name to Crooked Spoon Ice Cream with the following message: “As we ring in the new year, we are excited to announce the biggest news of 2025 and introduce you to our new name––Crooked Spoon. Don’t worry, this will be the same Full Strength™ ice cream we have always made to the highest standards possible, but as Crooked Spoon we now have a name that matches our bold and unique ice cream as well.”

ABOUT CROOKED SPOON ICE CREAM (formerly ACME Valley)

From the Crooked Spoon website: We’ve rethought every process making ice cream “the easy way” in order to make ice cream “the way it should be” – translating old world techniques and methods and updating them to work in a modern production setting. Through creative engineering (and a little elbow grease) we’ve built entirely new machinery catered to our exact needs. Nobody else makes the ice cream we do, and the proof is in every spoonful.
